Niseko's Most Popular Places: Top 10 by Google Review Count (October 2026)

So where do people who come to Niseko actually end up? Count the Google Maps reviews and the busiest place isn't a ski run at all: it's Fukidashi Park, a spring-water park in Kyogoku, with 6,968 reviews. Second is the Milk Kobo sweets shop at Takahashi Dairy Farm (3,823), third is AFURI, the ramen shop in Hirafu (3,564). For onsen, Kiranoyu by Niseko Station and the mountain inn Goshiki Onsen lead; for soba, it's Teuchi Soba Ichimura in Hirafu. All figures are from Google Maps as of 1 October 2026.

We counted the places listed in Niseko Hub's town guide. Accommodation is left out, and so are places further away, like Rusutsu and Kiroro. Restaurants inside hotels, such as Olivio at Park Hyatt Niseko HANAZONO (1,243 reviews), count as part of the hotel, so they're out too. This is for a small group of friends on their first trip who don't want to miss the places everyone goes, so it covers how to get there, what it costs and when it gets busy. Whether dinner in winter needs a booking is covered in Do you need to book restaurants in Niseko?

Review count tells you how busy, not how good

The number of reviews is a rough guide to how many people visit a place. Places that have been open longer, or have more seats and bigger car parks, simply collect more, so more reviews doesn't mean better. Star averages swing more on places with fewer reviews, where a handful of people can move the score. I'd use this ranking as a list of safe bets, then decide on location and opening hours.

Top 10 overall

1. Fukidashi Park (Kyogoku): 6,968 reviews, ★4.2 · a park where Mt. Yotei's spring water wells up 2. Niseko Takahashi Dairy Farm Milk Kobo (Niseko Town): 3,823, ★4.2 · the farm's own sweets shop 3. AFURI ramen + dumpling Setsu Niseko (Hirafu): 3,564, ★4.8 · yuzu-scented salt ramen 4. Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu (Hirafu): 2,723, ★4.5 · the ski resort; summer gondola and mountain biking 5. Roadside Station Meisui-no-Sato Kyogoku restaurant (Kyogoku): 1,966, ★4.0 6. Kiranoyu, Niseko Station onsen (Niseko Town): 1,320, ★4.2 7. Niseko Goshiki Onsen (Niseko Town): 1,277, ★4.2 8. Niseko HANAZONO Resort (Hanazono): 1,243, ★4.3 · ziplines and tree trekking in summer 9. Sapporo Ramen Daishin Niseko (Kutchan): 1,243, ★4.0 10. Teuchi Soba Ichimura (Hirafu): 1,213, ★4.3

Only three of the top 10 are in Hirafu: AFURI, Grand Hirafu and Ichimura. Numbers one and two sit on opposite sides of Mt. Yotei, and both are places you drive to. Fukidashi Park has parking for around 300 cars and no rubbish bins, so take your rubbish with you (Kyogoku Town). Milk Kobo opens 9:30 to 18:00, and 10:00 to 17:30 in winter (Takahashi Dairy Farm). Pick an onsen by access and price, not review count

1. Kiranoyu: 1,320, ★4.2 · right by JR Niseko Station 2. Niseko Goshiki Onsen: 1,277, ★4.2 · a lone mountain inn with milky sulphur water 3. Niseko Grand Hotel (Konbu Onsen): 1,202, ★3.7 · known for its mixed outdoor bath 4. Yusenkaku (Konbugawa Onsen): 1,093, ★4.1 · run by Rankoshi town 5. Hotel Kanronomori (Konbu Onsen): 1,039, ★4.1 · an outdoor bath in the forest 6. Yukichichibu (Niseko Yumoto Onsen): 1,017, ★4.2 · seven outdoor baths and a mud bath on the women's side

All six are over 1,000, so the counts barely separate them. Kiranoyu is ¥800 for adults (non-residents of Niseko town, from 1 July 2026), open 10:00 to 21:30, and you can get there by train (Kiranoyu). Goshiki Onsen is ¥800, open 10:00 to 20:00 in winter (Niseko Resort Tourist Association). The Echo Line (Route 58) up from the Hanazono side closes for winter; last season that was 14 October to 22 May (Kutchan Town). In winter you go up from the Niseko Town side on Route 66 (Niseko Resort Tourist Association). Yukichichibu is ¥900, cash only, opens at 12:00 in winter and closes on Tuesdays. Children under 5 and shorter than 105cm can't go in, so pick another bath if you have little ones (Rankoshi Town).

Ramen and soba: watch the lunch hour and how you pay

  • Ramen: AFURI Setsu Niseko 3,564, ★4.8 / Sapporo Ramen Daishin Niseko 1,243, ★4.0 / Ramen Yamaokaya Kutchan 888, ★3.8 / Aji no Tokeidai Kutchan 599, ★3.7
  • Soba: Teuchi Soba Ichimura (Hirafu) 1,213, ★4.3 / Nokanosobaya Yoteizan (Kutchan) 871, ★4.3 / Ishimame (Makkari) 508, ★4.4 / Isshinan (Kyogoku) 301, ★4.2

AFURI is open 11:00 to 22:00 and takes bookings for 1 to 16 people on TableCheck. Walk-ins can face a long wait, and it's credit card only (Setsu Niseko). Nokanosobaya Yoteizan makes its noodles with Mt. Yotei spring water and stone-ground buckwheat, and doesn't take bookings. In winter (December to March) it's open 11:00 to 14:30 and closed Wednesdays and Thursdays (Nokanosobaya Yoteizan).

Sushi, lamb BBQ and cafés: a few hundred reviews can still mean full

  • Sushi: Sushidokoro Nihonbashi (Kutchan) 311, ★4.0 / Sushi Hanayoshi (Niseko Town) 269, ★4.6 / Chiharu Zushi (Kutchan) 216, ★4.5
  • Genghis Khan (lamb BBQ) and yakiniku: Loft Club (Niseko Town) 533, ★4.4 / Jingisukan Eijin Kutchan 457, ★4.6 / Yakiniku Dainimon Kutchan 275, ★4.1
  • Cafés: Graubunden (Hirafu) 598, ★4.2 · open since 1990 / SPROUT (Kutchan) 394, ★4.6 / cafe crepe riz (Kutchan) 282, ★4.8 · crêpes made with Rankoshi rice / White Birch Cafe (Niseko Town) 258, ★4.5

Sushi places top out at a few hundred reviews. I think that's because many are small counter restaurants with few seats. A low count doesn't mean an empty seat, so book ahead in winter. With five or more people, I'd try the bigger yakiniku and lamb BBQ places before sushi. Leaving out ski schools and rental shops, the next things to do are rafting on the Shiribetsu River with Niseko Adventure Centre (NAC, 478, ★4.2) and Niseko Cheese (463, ★4.1).

When to go to the busiest places

  • Ramen and soba: expect a queue at lunchtime. Late morning or around 2pm is easier
  • Onsen: just after the lifts close, around 4pm, gets busy
  • Fukidashi Park and Takahashi Farm: busiest around midday on weekends. Go in the morning for a calmer visit

Once you've done one famous place, try somewhere with ★4.5 or more and a few hundred reviews. From the lists above that's Sushi Hanayoshi, Eijin, SPROUT and cafe crepe riz. With fewer reviews the stars move more easily, so check the location and hours in the town guide before you go. For days off the slopes, see What to do in Niseko if you're not skiing.
