Ski Schools in Niseko for Kids: English and Chinese Lessons, Ages and 2026-27 Prices (plus Rusutsu and Kiroro)
Niseko Hub Editorial Team · 2026/10/09

A full day in an English-speaking kids' group, lunch included, costs ¥28,000–37,000 per child at 2026-27 peak rates for ages 5–10 (GoSnow in Hirafu, NISS in Hanazono, Rusutsu). If you want your child taught in Cantonese or Mandarin, none of the schools we checked offer group classes: you're looking at private lessons from schools like Snow and Flow, whose instructors are from Hong Kong and Taiwan, at ¥58,000 for one child or ¥62,000 for two for 3 hours in peak season.
All prices and conditions were checked on each school's official website on 5 October 2026 and are 2026-27 figures unless noted. Lift passes and rental are extra at every school. First: can your child keep up in English?
English group lessons require kids to understand and speak English. GoSnow, NISS and Rusutsu's official school all say so in writing. A child at an international school will be fine, but for a 6-year-old who lives in Cantonese, English-only instructions on a cold slope can be a lot. In that case, go private, or pick a place like the kids' club below that has Mandarin-speaking staff.
English group lessons (ages 5–10)
| School and programme | Ages | Full day with lunch | Class size |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoSnow Ninja Kids (Hirafu) | 3–6, ski only | ¥22,000–33,000 | Up to 5 |
| GoSnow Yama Riders (Hirafu) | 7–14, ski or snowboard | ¥19,000–28,000 | Up to 7 |
| NISS Tic Tac and Yuki (Hanazono) | 3–6 and 7–14 | ¥32,000, peak ¥37,000 | Up to 4 |
| Rusutsu official school | 4–7 and 8–14 | ¥23,000–28,000 | 1–6 and 1–8 |
GoSnow meets at the base of Hirafu's King Gondola, and once check-in closes at 9:30 your child can't join that day. Half days (until 12:15) are ¥15,000–27,000 (Ninja Kids / Yama Riders / Niseko Hub town guide). NISS runs 5.5 hours from 10:00 to 15:30, is based at Hanazono and teaches across all four Niseko resorts (NISS / NISS groups / Niseko Hub town guide). At Rusutsu, 2.5–3 hours is ¥16,000–20,000, and lunch is supervised. If your child gets tired and drops out, there's no refund (Rusutsu Resort / Niseko Hub town guide).
Lessons in Cantonese or Mandarin
Snow and Flow is a private-only school whose instructors are from Hong Kong and Taiwan and teach in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Each lesson takes 1–4 people. In Niseko, 3 hours is ¥42,000 for one person and ¥54,000 for four, rising to ¥58,000–76,000 in peak season (14 December 2026 to 7 March 2027). They also run full-day (6-hour) lessons at Rusutsu and Kiroro. The school itself recommends separate lessons for adults and kids, and one-to-one for children under 6. A Cantonese-speaking instructor depends on who's free that day, so ask early in peak season (Snow and Flow).
Kiroro International Ski & Snowboard Academy also offers private lessons in English and Chinese (1–4 people): full day (4 hours) ¥80,000, morning 2 hours ¥55,000, afternoon 2 hours ¥49,000 (no season stated on the page; checked 5 October 2026). Cancel within 7 days and you pay 100% (Kiroro / Niseko Hub town guide). At NISS in Hanazono, you can request a language other than English for private lessons on the booking page (NISS).
For a 5-year-old who can't ski all day yet, there's Niseko Village Kids Club (ages 1.5–9). It has English- and Mandarin-speaking coaches, runs from 1 December 2026 to 28 February 2027, and takes up to 20 children a day by reservation. The Premium Package includes lunch and a 1.5-hour private ski lesson for ages 4 and up (Niseko Village).
What does it cost for a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old?
Here are the official prices for lessons in Hirafu during Lunar New Year week (GoSnow's peak is 4–10 February). A full day in GoSnow groups is ¥33,000 for Ninja Kids plus ¥28,000 for Yama Riders: ¥61,000 a day. A 3-hour Snow and Flow private for both kids is ¥62,000. For about the same money, you're choosing between a full day in English with lunch and a half day in Cantonese. Rusutsu's peak is only 14–31 December, so in February two full-day kids' lessons come to ¥50,000. Add kids' lift passes from Niseko lift passes 2026-27 and kids' rental from Niseko ski and snowboard rental.
Learning in Japanese, or keeping costs down
- HIRAFU SNOW (Grand Hirafu's own school): groups are in Japanese. Ages 4–6 (up to 3 kids) ¥12,000 for 2 hours or ¥20,000 for 4; ages 7+ ¥10,000 for 2 hours or ¥18,000 for 4. Groups start on 5 January 2027. Privates are in Japanese or English: ¥40,000 for 2 hours or ¥70,000 for 4, and 2 hours is ¥48,000 at peak (19 December to 4 January, 6–11 February) (Grand Hirafu / Niseko Hub town guide)
- Niseko Moiwa Ski School: privates only, in Japanese or English. From age 4, and ages 4–5 are one-to-one. ¥30,000–44,000 for 2 hours (2025-26 listing). Book by email (Moiwa / Niseko Hub town guide)
- Niseko Yotei and Niseko Rikka: lessons in Japanese (Yotei / Rikka)
- Kiroro Kids Ski Academy: skiing for ages 3–12, snowboarding for 7–12. ¥12,000 a day or ¥8,000 a half day, with lift pass and helmet included during the lesson. The cheapest option here, but Kiroro says its instructors basically don't speak English (Kiroro / Niseko Hub town guide)
- Rusutsu privates: in English, 1–5 people, age 4+. 2 hours ¥51,000 (peak ¥56,000, spring ¥46,000), 6 hours ¥96,000 (Rusutsu Resort)
Before you book
Book lessons the same week you book your stay. NISS groups cap classes at four, so they're likely to fill early in busy weeks like Lunar New Year and New Year. Cancellation rules differ by school: HIRAFU SNOW charges 50% the day before and 100% on the day, and Kiroro's privates are 100% from 7 days out. If you're booking before your plans are fixed, write those deadlines down first.
Only resort-run and approved schools may teach at Niseko United's four resorts. Instructors from approved schools wear a "NISEKO UNITED Affiliated" armband on the upper arm, so before booking a private teacher you found on social media, check which school they belong to (Niseko United 2026-27).
FAQ
Which ski schools in Niseko teach kids in Chinese?
None of the schools we checked run group classes in Chinese. Snow and Flow teaches private lessons in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, and Kiroro International Academy has private lessons in Chinese. NISS lets you request a language other than English for privates, and Niseko Village Kids Club has Mandarin-speaking coaches.
What age can kids start ski school?
GoSnow (ski), NISS and Kiroro Kids Ski Academy take children from age 3. Rusutsu's groups, HIRAFU SNOW's Japanese groups and Moiwa start at age 4. GoSnow also requires children to be toilet trained.
Do kids' lesson prices include a lift pass?
Not at GoSnow, NISS or Rusutsu. Kiroro Kids Ski Academy includes the lift pass and helmet during the lesson.
Are lessons more expensive over Lunar New Year?
It depends on the school. In 2027, GoSnow charges peak rates on 4–10 February, HIRAFU SNOW on 6–11 February and NISS on 6–12 February. Rusutsu's peak is only 14–31 December, so February is regular price.
