Ski and Snowboard Rental in Niseko 2026-27: Shops by Area, Adult and Kids Prices, Discounts
Niseko Hub Editorial Team · 2026/10/08

If your family is coming to Niseko without gear, rent from a shop you can walk to from where you're staying, and book it online before you fly. Adult skis or a board plus boots cost ¥8,500–10,500 a day and kids 14 and under pay ¥6,500 (Niseko Sports, 2026-27 prices), and Grand Hirafu's official rental takes 10% off with the code "TGHRental109" if you book by 31 October 2026 (Grand Hirafu).
Prices and terms are what each shop's official website showed on 5 October 2026. They can change, so check the official site again before you book. For the whole trip budget with lift passes and accommodation, see What does a 5-day Niseko trip cost once you add rentals?
What does a family of four pay for 5 days?
At Niseko Sports (four shops in Hanazono and Hirafu), two adults and two kids 14 and under renting skis or boards plus boots for 5 days pay ¥33,000 × 2 for the adult Sports range (aimed at beginners) and ¥22,500 × 2 for the kids. That's ¥111,000. Put the adults on Premium and it's ¥121,000.
| 2026-27 | Skis/board only, 1 day | + boots, 1 day | + boots, 5 days | + boots, 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adult Premium | ¥8,000 | ¥10,500 | ¥38,000 | ¥51,500 |
| Adult Sports | ¥6,500 | ¥8,500 | ¥33,000 | ¥43,500 |
| Kids (14 and under) | ¥4,500 | ¥6,500 | ¥22,500 | ¥29,500 |
Coming from a warm country, budget for clothing too. The same shop charges per piece, jacket or pants: ¥13,000 for 5 days for adults, ¥8,000 for kids, and ¥8,000 for a helmet. Jacket and pants for all four plus helmets for the two kids adds another ¥100,000. Goggles and gloves aren't on the price list, so plan to buy them before you leave or at the shop (all from Niseko Sports).
Choose the shop by where you're staying
An adult skis-plus-boots day ranges from ¥4,900 at Bigban in central Kutchan (2025-26) to ¥11,800 for Rhythm's Premium (2026-27), more than double depending on the shop and grade. Even so, carrying your kids' skis and boots along an icy street every morning costs the trip far more than that. Don't pick the shop first; pick it from where your accommodation is. In 2025-26, Standard skis or board plus boots were ¥4,900 a day and ¥18,700 for 5 days, and Kids ¥3,900 and ¥11,800. Under the same terms, renting after 4pm meant no charge for that day, returns were due by 7pm on the last day, and one size exchange was free (Bigban)
- Rusutsu Resort: five rental stations inside the hotels. The online form isn't a booking; it just speeds things up on the day, and you pay on your first rental day (Rusutsu Resort)
- Kiroro: ground floor of the Mountain Center. 2026-27 prices: adults (junior high and up) ¥14,900 a day for clothing + gear, ¥9,500 for gear only; kids (preschool and elementary) ¥10,000 and ¥7,800. 5% off on the web store. Goggles, hats and gloves can't be rented, but the shop sells them (Kiroro)
What happens if you don't book?
You can often rent on the day, but over New Year and Lunar New Year the common sizes go first. Booking online usually gets you a discount as well. Rhythm takes 10% off online bookings made 48 hours ahead and lets you cancel free up to 48 hours before, and Niseko Sports closes online booking 4 days before your start date. If you're coming for Lunar New Year, What to book, and by when, for Lunar New Year in Niseko? lines rentals up with your accommodation and dinners.
Take your time with boots at the shop
I've skied since I was three and worked as an instructor, and finding boots that fit is still a lifelong project for me. It takes pair after pair to settle on one, and the problem differs for everyone: cold feet, too tight, painful. A few minutes in the shop isn't enough to be sure, so if anything presses, ask for another pair. With kids, check each one yourself for pressure on the toes and shins before you leave, and you're less likely to lose the first afternoon to "my feet hurt".

Pick up on the evening you arrive
Mornings at the shops are busy with people heading straight up. Niseko Sports lets you collect the day before from 3pm at no extra charge and stores gear overnight for free, and Rhythm hands over pre-booked gear from 1pm the day before. Fitting a family of four takes one to two hours, so do it the evening you arrive and the next morning you can walk straight from your accommodation to the gondola. Clothing and helmets, yes, at most shops. At Niseko Sports a jacket or pants is ¥4,000 a day for adults and ¥2,000 for kids, and a helmet is ¥2,500. Kiroro doesn't rent goggles, hats or gloves, so bring gloves and goggles or plan to buy them at the shop.
