Mercure Niseko Opens 20 November 2026: Accor's First Hotel in Niseko, 176 Rooms, Mid-Range
Niseko Hub Editorial Team · 2026/11/02

Accor's mid-range brand Mercure opens Mercure Niseko Resort at Niseko Hirafu 4-jo 1-chome on 20 November 2026. It's the first Mercure in Niseko, and the first Accor hotel in Niseko full stop, with 176 rooms at opening (Ikyu) and a staged plan to reach 360 rooms by full opening in 2031 (Uchi Japan). Mt Yotei view (Ikyu), free winter shuttles to Hirafu and Hanazono (Uchi Japan), and positioned as a green-season base for trekking and cycling as well (Ikyu). If you're still choosing where to stay, read Where to stay in Niseko first; the Hirafu sub-areas differ more than they look on a map.
What kind of hotel is Mercure Niseko Resort?
The address is 1-3-3 Niseko Hirafu 4-jo, Kutchan (Accor). The hotel sits about 1.4 km in a straight line from the top of Hirafu-zaka (the central strip of the village). It is not ski-in / ski-out: walking to the gondola takes about 15 minutes, and in winter guests can use the hotel's complimentary ski shuttle, which reaches Hirafu in about 5 minutes (Ikyu). Accor advertises free winter shuttles to both Hirafu and Hanazono, so this is clearly designed as a ski-season base (Uchi Japan). A bus stop on the main road also connects to the Niseko United Shuttle for the other resorts (Ikyu).
The operator is French group Accor. Mercure is Accor's mid-range brand, and this is Accor's debut in Niseko. Accor runs Mercure hotels in Sendai, Sapporo, Kyoto and elsewhere in Japan. The way to read this opening is simple: Hirafu has not had a big international mid-range chain hotel until now, and this fills that gap (Uchi Japan).
176 rooms now, 360 by 2031
The hotel opens with 176 rooms and plans to grow to 360 by full opening in 2031, as part of a staged build-out (Uchi Japan). While that work is going on, rooms on the construction side may hear it, so if you book for the first season, ask the hotel directly for a Yotei-view room on the quieter side. Emailing the hotel tends to be faster than Accor's global call centre.
How does it compare to the other Hirafu hotels?
On the luxury side, Hirafu has Ki Niseko, roughly 100 m from the Grand Hirafu high-speed gondola, and Setsu Niseko on the main street through central Hirafu. Both are within walking distance of the gondola, but only Ki is close enough to be ski-in in practice. Setsu is about a 5-minute walk and runs a guest shuttle. On the mid-scale side, Hotel 101 Niseko sits right next to Mercure at Niseko Hirafu 4-jo 1-chome. Using only what's publicly stated, here's where they stand.
| Hotel | Location | Slope access | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ki Niseko | Upper Hirafu, by the Grand Hirafu gondola | ~100 m, effectively ski-in | Luxury with onsen |
| Setsu Niseko | Central Hirafu main street | ~5 min walk, not ski-in/ski-out; guest shuttle | Luxury |
| Hotel 101 Niseko | Niseko Hirafu 4-jo 1-chome, next to Mercure | ~3 min drive to lifts | Mid-scale, large (482 rooms) |
| Mercure Niseko Resort | Niseko Hirafu 4-jo 1-chome | ~5 min by guest shuttle (~15 min on foot) | Mid-scale, 176 rooms, winter shuttle |
The split is clear enough. If stepping out of your room onto the lift matters most, Ki Niseko is the honest answer. If you want to be closer to the village itself with walking access to shops and bars, Setsu. For a lower price with a big international operator behind the desk, you're choosing between Hotel 101 and Mercure, which sit next to each other at Niseko Hirafu 4-jo 1-chome, deciding on scale (482 vs 176 rooms) and brand. Peak-season prices swing hard by week, so pick your travel window in When is the best time to visit Niseko? and then plug dates into each hotel's booking engine.
Before you book for 2026-27
Mercure opens on 20 November, and the Niseko resorts aim to open on 28 November, so even skiers can book from the second week of the hotel's life. The season start dates are in our 2026-27 opening and lift pass guide. But freshly opened hotels usually take a few weeks to settle in: breakfast service, housekeeping and shuttle timing often have small rough edges. If this is your first Niseko trip, early December is calmer than the New Year rush.
As of 2 November 2026, the OTA Ikyu is already listing early-bird rates for Mercure Niseko Resort. A Standard Twin (two guests, no meals, Early Bird 60 Non-Refundable) starts at ¥9,350 per person, or ¥18,700 per room for two, before 3% accommodation tax (Ikyu). Accor's own direct booking and the peak-week rates (New Year, Lunar New Year) are not independently confirmed on the same date. Rather than guess, check the official page for these four points before you commit.
- Price: peak (New Year, Lunar New Year) vs regular rates, and max occupancy per room
- Cancellation: peak rates are often non-refundable; find out the free-change deadline
- Shuttle: timetables to Hirafu and Hanazono, journey time, and whether ski gear fits
- Construction: if the next phase is underway, which side of the building is the quiet side
Who it's for, and who it's not for
Good fit: families and groups who want a clean, big-name room within walking and shuttle distance of central Hirafu, with the option of a Yotei-view room. The hotel is also marketed as a base for green-season trekking and cycling, so it works for a spring or summer Niseko trip too.
Not a fit: advanced skiers who want to be on the lift at opening bell, families with small kids who can't face a shuttle queue, and people who want to walk out into the Hirafu-zaka restaurant strip at night. For those three, a hotel next to the gondola or mid-Hirafu-zaka is the simpler answer. If your trip lands in the opening week, it's also worth sliding your dates by one or two weeks and comparing — breakfast and housekeeping usually settle in by then.
